Colour clash

Colour clash

I try to wear as much colour as possible. Mainly to cheer me, but hopefully sometimes cheer those tube travellers around me too.

Sometimes I do double take myself when I leave the house; have I overdone it this time? In all likelihood, yes, but I've never yet got changed for that reason.

I have worked in various clothes shops over the years which means I have spent hours arranging rails of clothes into colour order. Richard Of York Gained Battle In Vain, or Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet.

Put those colours into a circle and you have a colour wheel and a whole world of glorious clashes. Suddenly red is opposite green, blue opposite orange and yellow opposite violet. These opposites will complement each other beautifully.

To take your clashing up a notch, you could add in a third colour. Imagine you are looking at the colour splits like a triangle, so three opposites rather than two. This could bring together yellow, blue and red, or orange, violet and green.

I love my Eponine digestive biscuit cotton suit. A green top, a pink skirt and I’ll probably wear it with some yellow or purple shoes. Dreamy.
